about the artist
Lindy Martinez Stice is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice moves between fine art and tattoo. A graduate of Westmont College, where she earned a BA in Art, Stice has divided her time between California and the island nations of the South Pacific for the past two decades.
Having learned tattooing in Tonga, she incorporates tattoo as an extension of her drawing practice, engaging skin as a site of embodied mark-making. Her work spans drawing and watercolor, examining cultural and material interactions and the intimacy of image. Organic and constructed forms recur throughout her practice as part of an evolving visual language.
Stice is currently pursuing candidacy for a Master of Fine Arts in Visual Art at Azusa Pacific University. She is the founder of Ink Sanctuary Tattoo Studio in Port Vila, Vanuatu.
